$100k MVP grant crucial to CASA in Action scaling up electoral work in Georgia

Following MVP’s grant of $100,000 in political funding to CASA in Action PAC for their electoral work in Georgia, we received this message from them:

“This is not only amazing support, but also super timely as we are slated to make some big decisions about scaling up/scaling back our program, so this is hugely valuable. Thank you so so much.”

CASA in Action is a major Latine and immigrant rights organization working nationally and in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Maryland, and Virginia. With 155,000 members, they run significant voter turnout operations mobilizing Black, Latine, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and Immigrant voters; and organize year-round to stop deportations, expand access to driver’s licenses, and advance social justice for all.

For their Georgia 2024 program, they plan to complete 102,089 door knocks. Out of a total budget of $863,963, they have raised $370,000 so far — $100,000 of which came from MVP — leaving a current gap of $493,963.

“MVP has been absolutely incredible for us and we’re better positioned early in the cycle than we were in 2022, 2020, or 2018. This has allowed us to really come out of the blocks firing on all cylinders.

These early phases of the program are so critical because we’re watching our money so closely — we are constantly tempering our ambition to go as big as we can and as bold as we can with the reality that we absolutely must keep our program funded through the entire election cycle.

If we ‘go dark’ at any point, that’s it, and the consequences — especially for our immigrant, Latino/a/e, Black, and working-class members who are literally fighting for their lives in this election — are too heavy to risk on the assumption more money will show up down the road.

We’ve planned the biggest, most powerful election campaign in our organization’s history because the stakes are too high to lose. But we have to make big choices right now, even at this early stage, about how big our programs will scale and how quickly we’ll get up to our maximum program strength.
