Movement Voter Project vs. PAC vs. Fund: What's the difference?

Movement Voter Project, Movement Voter PAC, and Movement Voter Fund are three legally separate organizations: a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization (C4), a political action committee (PAC), and a 501(c)(3) public charity (C3). They differ in how much partisan work your gift can fund, whether it is tax-deductible, and whether it is publicly disclosed.

Key differences: 501(c)(4) vs. PAC vs. 501(c)(3)

Nonpartisan work: Voter education, engagement, and turnout, plus issue advocacy and advocacy for or against ballot initiatives. It never promotes a political party or candidate, directly or indirectly.

Partisan work: Political activity, such as explicitly endorsing, supporting, or opposing political parties and candidates for office.

FEC reporting: Political action committees must report to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) the name, employer, and occupation of donors who give more than $200. Donors face the same requirement when giving to House, Senate, and Presidential candidates.
